This is an excellent report of Open Innovation practices and management. It provides a systemic view of what OI is, how it has been implemented, and how it should be implemented. A truly great new "white paper" on IO.

I also like the articles comment about innovation leading to less regulation, away from the traditional centralised power-model found in China. A culture of innovation only occurs when knowledge is shared and people are empowered to make decisions... it seems that China of the last 50 years could now possibly innovate its way into becoming a less authoritarian government

Great to read that when many companies are reining in expenses and clamping down activity due to the economic downturn, P&G are still working to better their competitive position. When a company is able to continue innovating despite a market downturn and high amounts of bottom line pressure, then the quality of their leadership must be high and their commitment to innovation must be complete.

Excellent thoughts!!!

While understanding innovation pattern followed by many companies, I thought of developing "Innovation Schema" and how to we manage it.

Dr Tobias, can you post your thoughts on Innovation schema.

This study is brilliant. We're already seeing the emergence of Digital Entrepreneurs as is disucssed in the report and in the book "4-hour work week".
There’s no doubt that connectivity fuels innovation so the organisations that can connect with their audience the most effectively (not just their employees) will dominate the landscape going forward. Organisations have to start positioning to cater for these people now or run the risk of becoming irrelevant.

That sounds immensely interesting, although personally I'm pessimistic about the chances of genuine change happening without a catalyst, be it a financial crisis, public acknowledgment of Peak Oil, or definitive evidence for global warming(some people such as our esteemed leader of the Opposition won't believe it until water is lapping at his front door). Unfortunately we may require a famine in the "West" before we change our (corporate) ways.
